I woke up this morning and was surprised with the snow outside. The first snow of the year ever since I live in Germany..I immediately took my camera and took some pictures.. I have some friends who have been helping me for my sites lay-outs and designs. I really admired them for the talents they have especially that they are sharing it without expecting in return. I am sometimes ashame to ask favor from them in making my lay-outs. I just got no talent for that. I would say, I want to learn web designing but I just don’t have the time and patient now. I am starting to upload my thousands of photos taken during my vacation in England. I was there for almost a month..to be exact three weeks. I really keep on wondering how this very small memory cards like the Secure Digital cards can store and save thousands of photos. As far as I can remember, I am only using before film cameras. The most photos I can have in one roll film is 36 shots. Now I can already have thousands of it depending on how I configure the size or pixels of camera. ADELAIDE, Austria (UPI) — The oldest known nuclear family was killed in a violent struggle, an analysis of the 4,600-year-old remains buried in Germany indicate.

In fact, the oldest genetically identifiable family “were definitely murdered, there are big holes in their heads, fingers and wrists are broken,” Alistair Pike from Bristol University told the BBC.

The researchers, whose report was published in the PNAS scientific journal, said comparisons of DNA extracted from bones found in one grave confirmed it entombed a mother, father and their two children. The son and daughter were buried in the arms of their parents.

“We’re really sure, based on hard biological facts not just supposing or assuming,” said Wolfgang Haak of The Australian Center for Ancient DNA in Adelaide, conducted the DNA analysis.

The four graves held 13 bodies, eight children and five adults. In two graves, DNA was preserved enough to allow comparisons among the occupants, researchers said.

One of the graves contained the nuclear family, while the other grave contained three related children and an unrelated woman, the British broadcaster said.

WASHINGTON (UPI) — Gulf War syndrome is real and afflicts about 25 percent of the 700,000 U.S. troops who served in the 1991 conflict, a U.S. report said Monday.

Two chemical exposures consistently associated with the disorder — one to a drug given to soldiers to protect against nerve gas and the other sed to protect against desert pests — were cited as causes in the congressionally mandated report presented to Veterans Affairs Secretary James Peake, the Los Angeles Times reported.

“The extensive body of scientific research now available consistently indicates that Gulf War illness is real, that it is a result of neuro-toxic exposures during Gulf War deployment, and that few veterans have recovered or substantially improved with time,” the report said.

The report supports complaints made by hundreds of thousands of U.S. and allied veterans who reported various neurological problems, the Times said. The government for years maintained that the symptoms manifested were because of stress or other unknown causes.

The panel of scientists and veterans also called upon Congress to appropriate $60 million annually to conduct research into finding a cure for the disorder.

“The tragedy here is that there are currently no treatments,” said panel chair James H. Binns, a former deputy assistant secretary of defense and a Vietnam veteran.

Many Gulf War veterans reported problems with memory and concentration, persistent headaches, unexplained fatigue and widespread pain. Other complaints include chronic digestive problems, respiratory symptoms and skin rashes.
