Ways to Keep In Touch With People Around The World

I am a Pinay expat in Europe for almost 8 years now. Imagine the distance between my home country, Philippines and Germany? That is thousands of miles away. Thanks to the different mediums in internet like video calling, chat, blogs, emails, video conferencing and social networks where I can have contacts to all important persons in my life especially my family, friends, relatives and former classmates.

Whether you find yourself away from friends and family just for a brief vacation or because you’ll be studying abroad or going away for a longer period of time, it’s important to keep in touch with the people that are close to you. In the past this could be a challenge, but with the internet and today’s technology there are many good ways to stay in touch with others.

1) Social Networking

There are several social media in the internet today where we can take hold and have contacts anywhere around the world. Social networking websites like MySpace and Facebook allow you to stay in contact with many of the people that you know. You can just give them a brief update about what you’re up to, say a quick hello, or put up pictures to view. This way you’ll feel like you’re still in contact with lots of your friends and family at once.

I am very glad that I joined these social networking sites like Facebook and Friendster. I am always updated with current news about my family and friends. Not only that, I can also see their pictures.

2) Webcam/Video Calling

With a number of video conference calling options available, such as Skype, video calling sites like Conference Genie, and a host of other live streaming sites, the potential is huge. If you have an iPhone, you can also use Wi-Fi to access your FaceTime setting within the phone. Having interaction via video link is one of the best ways to keep in touch, as you can utilise both sight and sound which is crucial to good communication. You can also use video calling to show off where you are such as landmarks and monuments, and even capture live parades, art exhibitions and other experiences.

3) Email

The easiest way to stay in touch with one specific individual is by sending them an email. This is the same as what you might do if you were to write a letter or send a postcard, but the person will receive it instantly. It’s easy, doesn’t take too long to send a quick email, and it also doesn’t cost a thing. You can also attach images when sending mails.

Since there is a time difference between Philippines and Germany, I cannot always catch my family online. I send them emails instead. Thanks to Yahoo for the free email services. I am a very contented yahoo user for a decade now.

4) Photo hosting websites

One of the best ways to make people from home feel like they are traveling with you is by showing them pictures of the places you’ve been. There are several websites that let you upload your pictures and put them into an online album view. Then you can send the album to others and they can look at all of the pictures you’ve taken and all the places you’ve been on your journey.

You can also share any pictures for whatever activities you are doing. Whether attending a friend’s birthday party, graduation, wedding or simply snapshots of your garden,

5) Start a blog

I am very happy being a part of the blogosphere. As a blogger, I can share my ideas, thoughts, opinions and personal experiences to the world. Whether I go for a trip, cook something, do gardening, shopping, visit a doctor, I can share everything in my blogs.

If you travel a lot or might be gone for a long period of time, you can start a blog to keep others informed about what you’re up to. You can post as often as you like and write about what you’ve been doing and things that you’ve seen. You can also put pictures on your blog. Then anyone you give the address to will be able to read it and comment on it.

You can also earn money through blogging. If you want to promote your site, you can hire experts to grow your business online.

Spam Mails Again

I received two spam mails in my yahoo inbox yesterday. I was thinking these are another spam mails again. I immediately put it in my spam mails to avoid getting it in the future. Receiving such messages are quite annoying sometimes. The senders don’t even mention the company where they are working. That is also the reason why I concluded that such emails are spam or fraudulent ones. I was only wondering where they get my full name.

Beware of these kinds of mails below. I copied and pasted everything including its full message header. I will try to search next time where these mails originated. That is the reason why I also copied its full message header.

Trying To Lose Weight

Last week, when I was looking at some of my old pictures, I was quite inspired to lose excess pounds. Actually, I had been planning to do this goal some months and even years ago. Last March, I told myself that I really need to lose my excess weight in six months. Does it mean that I already need some diet supplements to get rid of my excess pounds? I still have three months left and I really need to prove myself that I can. This also means more control and discipline of myself especially in my eating habit. I was invited by a friend yesterday for some lunch and I am happy that I did not eat a lot. I believed it is one way of losing weight. Agree with me guys? I hope I can and I just need more will power.

End of The World

Is the world really ending? With all the natural calamities that are happenings in some parts of the world now, some people are saying that it is already the end of the world. It is more than two months now since I watched live over the television the earthquake in Fukushima, Japan last March 11, 2011. It looked like I was watching a film that time but it is true. I believed it is just a reminder that what we do to our Mother Nature always boomerangs to us. Let’s start caring for our Mother Earth! It’s not yet too late.

Here is another news I read about Doomsday online.

When Doomsday Isn’t, Believers Struggle to Cope

If you’re reading this, Harold Camping’s predictions that the end of the world would start Saturday (May 21) failed to pan out.

That’s good news for most of us, but Camping and his followers were looking forward to the end. After all, they believed that they were likely to be among the 200 million souls sent to live in paradise forever. So how do believers cope when their doomsday predictions fail?

It depends, said Lorenzo DiTommaso, a professor of religion at Concordia University in Montreal who studies the history of doomsday predictions.

“If you have a strong leader, the group survives,” DiTommaso told LiveScience. “Sometimes the group falls apart. Most often, the answer given by the group is that the prophecy is true, but the interpretation was wrong.”

Not Another One

Good morning everyone! Another week is here again. It seems that my day is starting great plus the sunshine outside adds more energy to my body. Last Wednesday, when I woke up in the morning, I noticed that there was a big sore on my right chin. It was another adult acne again. I said to myself, “not another one again”. I was eating chocolates with nuts days before and I noticed that everytime I do it, acne will strike immediately. I am glad that it is slowly going away now. I also need to have an appointment with a dermatologist soon. That’s all for now. More updates in my other sites! Enjoy the day!

Just taking a break from all those words here. I am sharing an image of Cebu City in the Philippines. If you are on top of Taoist Temple in Beverly Hills, you will surely see this view. It’s been a year since my last vacation in this city. I miss it!

The Importance of Progesterone and Testosterone

I am trying to remember science terms at the moment. If women have progesterone, men also have testosterone. Most of us know the importance of these two hormones in both male and female body. Testosterone is very important in the development of of male reproductive tissues. It is very important for the health and well-being of a man. It also prevent osteoporosis. Nowadays, there are sites in the internet where you can find the best testosterone supplements. You can also read some reviews of it.

Progesterone on the other hand, is a hormone which is involved in the female menstrual cycle, embryogenesis of humans and in the pregnancy period. Don’t you know that the one of the sources of this hormone are milk products? These are quite interesting topics but I am not really an expert about this. You can browse online if ever you want to know more about it.

OMG.. Look What THIS Kid Did to His School After Being Expelled-Spam in Facebook!

Beware of the “OMG.. Look What THIS Kid Did to His School After Being Expelled!” in Facebook. This is a spam! I am just reminding all my facebook friends and all facebookers to be aware of this message that is proliferating now in Facebook. Some of your account might got hacked already.

I received a comment from a friend in my facebook profile that says, “This is realy insane.. you have to see this”. Actually it is some sort of a video with entitled, “OMG.. Look What THIS Kid Did to His School After Being Expelled!”. I tried to click the video and it opened in another window. After that, it instructed me to press some keys in my keyboard. I forgot to save the instruction but I did not do it because I was doubting that it is a spam/scam again. It might also contain virus which might harm our computer.

If your happened to received such messages, you can try to move your cursor on the right side of the message and you will see the “X” or delete button. You can press “Mark as spam” so that it will be reported as spam in facebook also. See also the screenshot which I posted below.

LASTLY, I AM REMINDING ALL FACEBOOK FRIENDS WHOSE ACCOUNTS WERE HACKED BY THIS VIRUS, YOU BETTER CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY. ..longer password with at least 12 characters combined with letters and numbers are better.

Jobless But Happy

Jobless but happy? I believed this doesn’t sounds good for those people who are jobless and are still looking for jobs at the moment. With the economic and financial crisis that hit America in 2008, which also made a domino effect to the whole world until now, looking for a certain job is sometimes quite difficult. I was engaged before in some sales jobs and I loved. In fact, I also owned before a general merchandising store but due to change of residence, the store was closed. Second, I also miss my job as a banker. I am just happy that hubby can feed me and can provide my basic needs. Of course, I am still willing to work if ever opportunity arises. For now, I am quite enjoying my status of being jobless and sometimes being a freelancer is quite good. Anyone out there who want to hire me?
