A Pencil Story

This is such a wonderful story. It was forwarded by a friend’s wife and I want to share it before deleting it. Keep reading and learn the wonderful and inspiring lessons in it.

“A PENCIL MAKER TOLD THE PENCILS 5 IMPORTANT LESSONS JUST BEFORE PUTTING THEM IN THE BOX :

1.) EVERYTHING YOU DO WILL ALWAYS LEAVE A MARK.

2.) YOU CAN ALMOST ALWAYS CORRECT THE MISTAKES YOU MAKE.

3.) WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS WHAT IS INSIDE OF YOU.

4.) IN LIFE, YOU WILL UNDERGO PAINFUL SHARPENINGS,
WHICH WILL ONLY MAKE YOU BETTER.

5.) TO BE THE BEST PENCIL, YOU MUST ALLOW YOURSELF
TO BE HELD AND GUIDED BY THE HAND THAT HOLDS YOU.

We all need to be constantly sharpened.

This parable may encourage you to know that you are a special person, with unique God-given talents and abilities.

Only you can fulfill the purpose which you were born to accomplish.

Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot be changed and, like the pencil, always remember that the most important part of who you are, is what’s inside of you.”

Hubby in the Gasthaus

Hubby is an avid fan of football. In fact, he is a fan club member of one of Germany’s First League team. His team is the FC Nuernberg. He was happy the other week because his team had won three times consecutively. Last Sunday, he asked me if he can go to the Gasthaus, a German word for a beer house and restaurant where he can watch football game. We are currently having a problem with our Television that we cannot view the channel where the football game is normally showed. As he came home, I smell cigars on all his clothes. I have no idea if he use alec bradley cigars as he watched the football game in the Gasthaus. Hubby don’t really smoke unless he go in the Gasthaus with friends. It is not too bad because he just go at most one or two times in a month. He was also sad because his team lose against FC Bayern Munich. I simply told him, “that is game, sometimes you lose, sometimes you win!”

Have a nice day!

Alarm: Obesity!

I thought of going to sleep after the fight of Manny Pacquiao this morning at 3:00 Berlin time but I guess, I am feeling very sleepy right now. In short, I can’t watch it anymore. Back to my main topic; I bought a new weighing scale last Wednesday because I already doubted our old one. I just opened the package yesterday and tested it for the first time. I was truly alarmed after finding out that I gained around four kilos more. I was very frustrated and thought immediately of the best weight loss pills in the market. Hubby said that it is the caused of eating too much during parties. The second reason is, I don’t make exercise now like walking around because of the cold weather outside. I remember a friend telling me that proper discipline of oneself will help reduce weight. I know what she meant for that. I have to control my appetite and don’t eat too much. Gaining more weight is truly very alarming for me. I agree, proper discipline and more exercise can help reduce excess pounds and fat.

Car Insurance is Expiring

Owning a car especially in Europe can sometimes be very expensive. There are always bills that you have to pay from time to time including car tax, car insurance, can maintenance and a lot more. The insurances for our two small cars also cost some fortune especially that I am jobless. It will be expiring soon and we have until the end of the month to search for another company that offers cheap car insurance. Hubby said that he will check the other insurance companies hoping that we will get a cheaper one. Thanks to computers and internet where we can also conveniently browse for finding affordable insurance.

Medical Gadget

Hello guys! It seems that I was away here for some days. Yes, I do. If you happen to read my other sites, you might know the reason why. Anyway, I will be mentioning about my sister who need some medical gadgets since she is studying nursing now. She is a second courser and told me last time that she is falling in love with her Nursing studies. She needs gadgets like blood pressure, audiometer, medical gloves, thermometers and some other more. Good to know that I found a site that offers such medical products.

Lastly, I would like to congratulate her because she belongs to the top 5 students in her class. I am very proud of you sis. I just found this out when one of her classmates posted the list in her photo album in facebook. Good job Sis and keep it up!

History of Halloween

Historian Nicholas Rogers, exploring the origins of Halloween, notes that while “some folklorists have detected its origins in the Roman feast of Pomona, the goddess of fruits and seeds, or in the festival of the dead called Parentalia, it is more typically linked to the Celtic festival of Samhain, whose original spelling was Samuin (pronounced sow-an or sow-in)”. The name is derived from Old Irish and means roughly “summer’s end”. A similar festival was held by the ancient Britons and is known as Calan Gaeaf (pronounced Kálan Gái av).

The festival of Samhain celebrates the end of the “lighter half” of the year and beginning of the “darker half”, and is sometimes regarded as the “Celtic New Year”.

The ancient Celts believed that the border between this world and the Otherworld became thin on Samhain, allowing spirits (both harmless and harmful) to pass through. The family’s ancestors were honoured and invited home while harmful spirits were warded off. It is believed that the need to ward off harmful spirits led to the wearing of costumes and masks. Their purpose was to disguise oneself as a harmful spirit and thus avoid harm. In Scotland the spirits were impersonated by young men dressed in white with masked, veiled or blackened faces.Samhain was also a time to take stock of food supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. Bonfires played a large part in the festivities. All other fires were doused and each home lit their hearth from the bonfire. The bones of slaughtered livestock were cast into its flames. Sometimes two bonfires would be built side-by-side, and people and their livestock would walk between them as a cleansing ritual.

Dreaming!

It’s TGIF again! October is almost ending soon. Sometimes, I can imagine the passing of time. I mean, it seems that the days are getting faster this time. Anyway, let me proceed with my main topic before I go to sleep. I was talking to hubby last night and was telling him that if I will win the lottery, I will surely repair immediately our old stone house. I told him that I wanted a huge library where I can put my book collections. I want a library room with huge windows installed with custom blinds. Hubby said that I am dreaming again. I answered him that “to dream is free and see most of my dreams are coming true”! He just smiled at me and yes I will check it this week if the numbers I played in lotto came out. The winning is supposed to be 12 million Euros. Good luck to me!
