Swine flu not linked with today’s pigs

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (UPI) — A Purdue University veterinarian says flu viruses are named for the first animal in which they are found; the current swine flu was discovered in pigs in 1930.

That discovery is the only reason the current outbreak is called swine flu, said Purdue swine medicine expert Sandy Amass. “We don’t even know if the virus found in humans will infect pigs.”

No U.S. pigs have been found with swine flu (H1N1) in the current outbreak — only humans — but Amass says pork producers should take precautionary measures to protect their herds from being infected with any flu virus:

— Do not permit people, including employees that have the flu or flu-like symptoms, in or around barns.

— Do not allow any visitors to the farm, especially international visitors who have had contact with other livestock.

— If pigs show flu symptoms — coughing, runny nose, fever and a reduction in feed intake — call a veterinarian and have them tested.

“It’s important to make sure your biosecurity procedures are being followed,” Amass said. “If you have any concern, work with your vet because they know your operation best.”

Hello everyone! How your last day of the month? I guess I am having a great April month. I hope you too. I guess some friends of mine are also happy and contented. I got one friend who has almost everything what she want in Germany including one of those nice audio racks. She let me ordered a lot of furniture and her husband was also about it. At least they have now an elegant and comfortable home. I wish to make some pictures of their new furniture the next time I visit them. Nobody wants ugly face especially the women. As I first came to Germany, a lot of acne grow on my face. It was a very terrible one. I was scared sometimes because when I sleep in the night, I woke-up with some blood on my face. I guess, I scratched accidentally those huge pimples called acne. I am just thankful that my dermatologist prescribed a very effective acne skin treatment. Now I am happy because only regular pimples are growing but not so bad as before. They just come and go. Sometimes, I am just confuse what is really the difference between homepage and webpage. I guess they are almost similar but have each own meaning. To find an answer to my question, I consulted again my doctor professor in the internet, Wikipedia. See I simply browse and found the answer right in the click of my mouse. I just remember that it is TGIF today..Time and days are passing so quickly now. I’m feeling a bit tired today after having not enough sleep last night. I already went home around 1:30 AM to help a friend. It was a cool evening. I did a lot of things in the house also which made me feel more tired. This is already a plan early this year. I should be buying it already but there are other circumstances that happens all the time. If not the money I had was spend for travelling, buying some investments and for some needs at home. My pc is still working. I know it is already over use but it is still running so why hurry buying a new one. Of course, I will still buy anytime this year when finances are better.
